Early Spring

Weeks and weeks of cold and dismal weather has left me numb with a winter funk.. Yesterday's mini-blizzard nearly pushed me over the edge.. Fortunately there may be a shred of light at the end of the tunnel..

Just a few minutes ago, I was startled by the dull thud-thud-thud of a large bald eagle flapping his way across the flight line.. He worked his way across the ramp and did a classic wings-up talons-bared drop onto something for lunch..
..
I scanned the sky..
Cold air.. Fresh sunshine..
Weak cumulus clouds..
Soaring birds..
..
The calendar turns from January to Flying season in a few days..
..
I think I'll survive..

Endless Winter

Last Saturday was great; temperatures were near 80 degrees and the wind was light.. Desiree and I spent some time in the yard digging out a few weeds.. Later in the afternoon we geared up and rode our bikes for a few hours.. It felt like summer could actually be on it's way..

Just a few days later however, summer is far away once again.. Temperatures in the 30's and we're saddened by 5 inches of snow..
