Text Disconnect – Text Addiction

Addiction is defined as the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma..

..

The text generation appears to be unable to have meaningful associations with the reality around them; a constant barrage of digital communication in a virtual world leaves the addict unable to disconnect from their artificial text relationships.. An unhealthy emotional attachment to the technology has damaged their ability to attach any sense of connection to the real people around them..

..

To prove the hypothesis that text messaging is an addiction, just cancel your addict's cell phone plan; the ensuing severe trauma will be yours to endure..

Brandy and I just got Blackberries. We love them for their convenience. However, your point is well taken and I will make a conscious effort to put the human touch into my communications.
